Keanu Reeves “47 Ronin” Flopping at the Box Office

Keanu Reeves “47 Ronin” Flopping at the Box Office

In case you haven’t heard, Keanu Reeves has a new movie out now, called 47 Ronin. I’m yet to check it out but there is something intriguing about the storyline. I’m a big fan of Japanese Anime as well as action stories revolving around ninjas and samurai.

I have been watching some online previews for other movies like “Fast and the Furious” as well as “Noah” and I had the chance to watch online movie clips, and happened to glimpse a few scenes in the new movie.  The movie does look good, and the CGI employed in those scenes is fantastic.

Universal’s Budget and Bottom Line to Take a Big Hit

However, this movie is thought to have cost Universal Studios over $200 million dollars (US) to produce and market, and as of right now, Friday December 27th, the movie is tanking at the box office. Which means it will likely not be in theatres very long, before you can watch it online, through different distributors. Not sure if anyone will pay $15 bucks to watch it in the movie theatre right now, when it might become available to watch movie online content when it becomes available, due to its poor box office performance.
Major Problems with Japanese Actors in American Films

One reason for the poor performance of the movie at this time is not only due to the scathing reviews which have been posted online by those whom have watched the movie, but there is also a problem with the acting. In specifics, we have Keanu Reeves, who by any measure is not what one would consider a great actor, and barely watchable in other movies, outside the “Matrix” Series of movies.  By the way I’m a big fan of the Matrix series of movies and have watched them online many times. They are great and will likely go down as Keanu’s best work, when his career is all said and done for.  Too bad the same can’t be said of his latest offering.
